Turkey Al Fresco

Long before there was Stove Top Stuffi ng mix and canned pumpkin, folks used to prepare Thanksgiving fare over an open fire. Well, leave it to the Hancock Park District (HPD)to resurrect the tradition! They’re even providing a “dress rehearsal” if you’re considering cooking in gloves, hat, and scarf this year. On Saturday, November 20th at 2p.m., program coordinator, Stacie Roby and outdoor chef, Bob Connour, will teach you how to prepare your own Thanksgiving dinner in the great outdoors. The pair will demonstrate how to cook a turkey, side dishes and dessert using charcoal, Dutch ovens, and
a “homemade” outdoor stove. Best part… after the demonstration, participants will sample the fi nished meal. HPD expects a big group, so please register by Tuesday, November 16th. (You might want to ditch the Martha Stewart apron and dress for the weather.) Cost is $3/person.
