Children in grades 1 to 4 will go batty learning about bats with hands-on activities presented by the Hancock Park District. Register online or at the library’s children’s desk. Free.

Fall on the Farm and Scout Day

Take a step back in time and prepare for the cold weather ahead the old-fashioned way. Children can shell corn, dig potatoes, churn butter, pack apples, and make a pie crust. Crafts include decorating a pumpkin, making a corn husk doll, and much more. Boy and Girl Scouts get in free (must be in uniform and present membership card). Adults/$16, students (6-16)/$10, children (ages 5 and under)/free.

Enchanted Forest Walk

Stroll down a wooded trail filled with characters. Groups will leave the “Doc” Phillips Discovery Center with a guide every 15 minutes. Warm up afterwards by an outside fire with refreshments. $2 per person. Register by Friday, October 17. Participants must be ages 4 and up.

24th Annual Halloween Folklore and FunFest

Fun for all ages with horse-drawn carriage rides, monster theatre, folklore tours, cider press, children’s games, warming fire, and the “coffin café” for refreshments. Costumes are welcome, but not required. Free admission.

Trunk or Treat

It’s “trunk or treat”—a safe, non-scary alternative. The event takes place in the parking lot and church members hand out treats from their trunks. Refreshments will also be served. No scary costumes. Free.

A night of Halloween fun for all ages. Visitors can enjoy a tour through the “haunted” Hull House, sample pumpkin and apple treats cooked over the hearth in the Crawford Log House, decorate pumpkins and cookies, and enjoy Halloween storytelling and 19th century games. Refreshments available. No admission charged.

Trick-or-treat and so much more! Themed stations, music, crafts, animal demonstrations and games. Pumpkin Path is perfect for older children while the Little Boo is designed for the zoo’s youngest visitors. Bring your own bag, plastic pumpkin or other container. Halloween Parade

Findlay’s biggest parade of the year—a fun event for the whole family with costumes, floats, marching bands, and candy galore. There will be a new route this year, taking off at East Main Cross Street at East Street and continuing west on East Main Cross Street until turning south on Main Street. Awards will be given for floats, vehicles and walking groups in the following categories: Best of Show, Most Original, Scariest, Funniest, Spirit of Halloween, Flag City USA Award and the John Hancock Award. Free.
