Libraries and parks in Hancock and Seneca counties have joined forces to provide family-friendly trails where kids and their parents or grandparents can take a walk and read a book at the same time.
Findlay-Hancock County Public Library has a StoryWalk at Riverside Park in Findlay in cooperation with Hancock Park District and the city of Findlay. Park visitors can walk clockwise around the StoryWalk, reading pages of children’s picture books along the way. Each of the 17 stops advances the story, and the book is complete when they have finished the circle.
The StoryWalk begins at the bandshell left of the Riverside Park sign and ends at the Waterfalls Pavilion. The story changes around the first of each month.
Seneca Parks and Bliss Public Library, Bloomville, have joined their efforts to provide Walk & Wread at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve, which is south of the village of Bloomville on SR 19.
The storybook trail goes around Alma Pond, and a new story is added each month. Families who read six books can turn in their card at the library to receive a prize.
Cards are available at the beginning of the trail and at the library, 20 S. Marion St.
