Moving UP in the world

Findlay teens who have given up all hope of ever climbing anything higher than the Blanchard Avenue overpass, take heart! Jerome Gabriel, a seasoned climber and outdoor guide, has started The Adrenaline Youth Climbing Club at BGSU’s Recreation Center. Gabriel and other members of the Recreation and Wellness Outdoor Program are trained as belay and climbing technique instructors and will work with youth ages 8-18. The program emphasizes physical, mental and social development, as members learn skills on the Recreation Center’s climbing walls. During each session, climbers participate in a wide variety of games and lessons designed to be fun, active and educational. All coaches are First Aid, AED and CPR certifi ed. A new session starts November 2nd and runs through December 14th. Classes for ages 8-12 are offered on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 4p.m.-6p.m. and on Thursdays from 4p.m.-6p.m. for ages 13-18. The cost of a session is $75 and includes two hours of instruction per week for six weeks; supervised practice times, use of equipment and the BGSU climbing wall, and an Adrenaline Club t-shirt.
