A sure sign of spring’s arrival: flowers blooming, birds chirping, rain pounding, and, most importantly, farmers’ markets reopening with fresh produce. It’s time to shake off the winter layers, grab your reusable shopping bags, and load up on goods at our local gems. (Or, all of our local gems— farmers-market-style bar hop, anyone?)

Molyet Farm Market
8:30am-7:00pm, Monday-Saturday. 9:00am-6pm, Sunday.

Grocery shopping doesn’t need to be such a hassle, especially if it’s accompanied by a visit to the greenhouse right next door. Molyet’s offers homegrown fruits and vegetables all summer and promises the highest-quality flowers and plants for your gardens. 

Riehm’s Roadside Stand
June-October: 10am-6pm, Monday-Friday. 11am-6pm, Saturday-Sunday.
Riehm Produce Farm, 7244 N. State Route 53, Tiffin. 

You’ve probably seen Riehm’s produce at a number of markets, or maybe you subscribe to their CSA, but did you also know you can stop and shop at their roadside stand? In addition to their seasonal fruits and veggies, they also sell frozen beef and pork cuts. 

Wolfe’s Produce
9am-6pm, Monday-Saturday. 10am-6pm, Sunday.
Wolfe’s Produce, 11343 State Route, 37, Findlay. 

Stop by Wolfe’s Produce for seasonal, homegrown produce, but don’t forget to balance your healthy haul with some Amish baked goods like cinnamon rolls, cream pies, and brownies delivered fresh every Wednesday. Will open in July.

WEDNESDAY-SATURDAY

Cherry’s Farm Market and Greenhouse
10am-6pm, Wednesday-Friday. 9am-3pm, Saturday.
5393 State Route 224, Ottawa. 

It doesn’t get much more local than buying produce exactly where it is grown. Head to Cherry’s Farm Market for homegrown produce and all your flower needs. They also sell Walnut Creek Amish cheese and meat and receive weekly shipments from Amish bakeries in Eastern Ohio. The greenhouse should open in April, with the farm market opening in May.

THURSDAYS

Hancock County Farmers’ Market
4-6pm. Thursdays.
Marathon Center for the Performing Arts, 200 West Main Cross, Findlay. 

The Hancock Farmers’ Market serves as more than just a produce pick-up. While you can stock up on the typical market finds like fresh fruit, veggies, baked goods and jam, you can also pick up wine and pasta, listen to live music and eat at one of the many food trucks. Opening May 6.

SATURDAYS

Bluffton Farmers’ Market
8:30am-noon. Saturdays, May-October.
102 S Main St., Bluffton. 

Enjoy local produce and goods found at the Bluffton Farmers’ Market. Bring the kids for a storytime presented by Bluffton Public Library. Opening on May 1.

Fostoria Farmers Market
9am-1pm. Saturdays.
Downtown Tiffin, South Washington St.

Mark your calendars for the Seneca County Farmers Market in downtown Tiffin. Starting May 1, roughly twice a month, downtown will be filled with homegrown goodies from all over the state. Check Destination Seneca County for a full list of dates.

Galaxy Garden and Bakery

Everyone thinks the hardest part of being vegan is the loss of cheese. The real struggle, though, is the difficulty in finding vegan desserts. Galaxy Garden and Bakery is a god-send for vegans. Traditional items like peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies get veganized without sacrificing any deliciousness. 

Little Riley Creek Farm

Make your farmers market trip even healthier by shopping at Little Riley Creek Farm, where all produce is certified organic. They believe in making healthy soil in order to make healthy plants and animals. 

Muddy River Homestead

Listen, we want to support any business that boasts  “big and sexy” food, which is how Muddy River Homesteads describes its spare ribs. Their long lists of products feature something for everyone (okay, not vegetarians— but even they can get a doggie bag of bones for their pups.) For the carnivores out there, choose from items like pig links, bratwursts, and bacon. For the more adventurous, why not try a pork tongue or hog head?

Pasta is our love language. Once you have homemade, hand-crafted pasta, you’ll never want boxed pasta again. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
